The Coordinated Event is a collaboration of exceptional hospitality professionals. We service corporate and private events, weddings, groundbreaking ceremonies, fundraisers, reunions, family gatherings and a host of other celebrations. Our articulate and attentive bartenders, servers, kitchen personnel, and event captains combine their skills and experience to bring successful staffing solutions to events throughout Virginia, as well as in North Carolina, and the Washington D.C. area. Whether you need one bartender, or an army of event “troops”, we are your answer.

Shortly after graduating from William and Mary in 1982, Richmond native Bobby Spivey co-founded and helped build one of Richmond’s premier catering businesses.

After 13 years, he moved to Costa Rica to operate an ecotourism business, then to California to manage an upscale restaurant, and then back to Richmond.  In 2001 he launched The Coordinated Event.

The goal was, and still is, two-fold:  To provide our clients and guests with great service; and to offer outstanding employment opportunities to local hospitality professionals.  The Coordinated Event provides competent, articulate staff for a growing number of the area’s top caterers, and our “troops” have been sited at many of Virginia’s finest homes and attractions.

But there is so much more we bring to the tables.

We are licensed and insured. We are familiar with dozens of event venues, ranging from galleries to museums to plantations and wineries.  We are accustomed to the challenges of off-premise events. We speak the event language and work closely with local rental companies, caterers, and other event professionals.   For larger events we offer complimentary site visits, as well as venue set-up, including tables, chairs, linens, dishes…you name it!  And when it’s all over, and time to call it a night, we knock it all down and make it all go away.
